Normally we aren't all together Christmas Day. Dave's sister and her family usually drive down to Ames Christmas Eve, but they decided to wait and come Christmas Day this year. That worked well for us, because it meant we could stay with my mom for breakfast. Dani, Brad, and Linc came over in their jammies. Mom made a yummy cinnamon French toast casserole.
Santa even came! Henry left a note for him the night before.
Santa left some sleds and a bowling game along with the following note:
Breakfast was great.
Dani pointed out the similarities between a pic of Lincoln the night before and one of her when she was little. How cute is that?!
We had a huge Christmas meal. Henry decided nothing sounded that great to him for dinner, so Mammey made him pancakes. Lucky boy.
The boys got to sit with Mammey and Pa at their own special table.
After dinner, we did gifts for the kids and then our adult gift exchange. Dave ended up with this gem.
After our extended family left, we opened presents. As you can see, we had a fun-filled day. Henry was quite frank in telling us exactly how he felt about his gifts! At one point he informed us all that he didn't like puzzles. Then the next gift he opened he exclaimed, "I didn't want this either!" It was mortifying and humorous all at the same time. He's normally quite polite. In fact the evening before, he randomly loudly said, "Aunt Dani, thank you for Christmas dinner."
And off to bed we went! I'd say it was a very Merry Christmas.
