Fun - Weather Permitting

Since the weather was SO nice today, we decided to make a quick trip to the zoo to enjoy a bit of sunshine this afternoon.  The absolute best time to visit the zoo is after 3 p.m. during the school year.  You pretty much have the place to yourself.

So this is pretty much the extent of the animal viewing we did.  A year or two ago the zoo added a playground down in Sea Lion Pavillion.  (EYE ROLL!!!)   For a long time it drove me crazy.  The only thing anyone wanted to do was go to the playground.    So finally I gave up and surrendered to the demands to go to the playground because they have so much fun there.  So basically our trips to the zoo are now really just a trip to the playground with a really long walk to get there and an occasional stop for popcorn or ice cream.

Henry has finally gotten brave enough to sit on the animals!   This is the first trip where he consented to letting me place him on the animal and take his picture.  Yippee!

My lovies!

Spring can get here any day now.  We're ready to resume our daily zoo trips!

Story Telling

I love this quote and the attached article.   Thought it was worth sharing.
"Tied up in that sense of empowerment is the ability to shape my own story. While I can't reverse this terrible thing that has happened, the one tiny bit of control I have is the vantage point from which I process it all. While some of the major events of life are beyond my control, it is up to me to set the tone and to tell my own story in a way that best suits me."

JT!

Seriously, I can't remember the last time I had a girls night out!  This was one for the books.  Although I did spend most of the week recovering from all the fun we had, I'd do it again in a second!

Sarah and I spent our morning shopping for outfits to replace the ones we had already planned to wear.  Then we hit Charming Charlies.  Starbucks, Qdoba, and Orange Leaf made the day extra fabulous!   Sarah got to experience the joy of a hot rock pedicure at Martinis.

We danced the night away and enjoyed the concert!   All of my favorite things and some of my favorite people all smashed into 24 hours.  Loved every second!

I have no clue why I'm so short in these pictures :)

Worn

I love when I turn the radio on and find a song that so completely captures the way I'm feeling in that moment.    Most days are okay, but some days I most definitely feel worn.

I’m Tired I’m worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes
To keep on breathing
I’ve made mistakes
I’ve let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world

And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause I’m worn

I know I need to lift my eyes up
But I'm too weak
Life just won’t let up
And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause I’m worn

My prayers are wearing thin
Yeah, I’m worn
Even before the day begins
Yeah, I’m worn
I’ve lost my will to fight
I’m worn
So, heaven come and flood my eyes

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause all that’s dead inside will be reborn

Though I’m worn
Yeah I’m worn
