Spring Snack - March 20th

The boys had spring snack for parents to celebrate the first day of spring.  The boys made a yummy snack to share with me

Kindergarten Physical - March 19

Henry had his kindergarten physical this week.  Somehow I completely forgot that this would involve shots.  Eek!    I must have blocked it out of my mind.  He is growing like a weed and doing great!    I told him after shots he could go to lunch with me.  He wasn't sad for long.

What could be a better way to celebrate a fabulous physical than enjoying a milkshake and cheeseburger at McDonald's?  We had to kill a few hours before my doctor's appointment, so we enjoyed some time in the play place.

We even had time to run to Sunset Park in Council Bluffs for a little outside time!

After my appointment was over, we made a quick stop at Starbucks so I could grab some coffee.  Henry decided he needed a snack too.

They are trying to kill me!

We made Angry Bird pizza for dinner.   Despite the shots, I think we had a pretty good day.

St. Patrick's Day

K'nex - Fun for One - March 16th

Henry received a duplicate gift for his birthday, so we returned it and found a fun Mario K'nex set on clearance for $17!   I was really excited because it was originally $59.99 and I had been keeping an eye on it for quite a while.

I didn't take into consideration the fact that I have ZERO patience when it comes to building toys.  I think I cried last time I had to put a Chuggington set together.

So I open this box of pieces and started to laugh.  The instructions were 27 pages long!   The box contained about five bags of pieces.  Each bag had a billion pieces that had nothing to do with each other inside.  Good times.

Oh, look!  Page 11.

OMG.  Happy dance!   6 HOURS later, this thing was finally done.  YAY!!!!

The toy is super fun and the boys love it.  The ghosts are hooked up to pieces under the floor that spin when you turn a piece in the back.   Henry found another set at the store a few days later.  Heck no!  I need at least a month to recover.

Back to Ames - March 15th

It seems there isn't much left for me in Ames.  It's weird to travel back now and have it just be a place we all used to live.

My Aunt Mary passed away unexpectedly on Henry's birthday, so I made a trip back for her visitation on Saturday.  It was nice to see family again, although we decided we need to plan a picnic or something happy this summer to ensure we see each other under happier circumstances.

Mom and I did get to enjoy some quality time together and thankfully the Cyclones won their game, which made the day a little more pleasant.

Saying Goodbye - March 9th

After a wonderful visit, Mammie had to return back to Arizona.  We had a quick lunch at Panera on the way to take her back to the airport.  Time went by WAY too quickly.  Can't wait until we are all together again.

Sunshine - March 10th

After a day of feeling icky, we were very happy to have some beautiful weather.  It was 72 and sunny at 5:45 p.m. and we took advantage of the nice weather and extra hour of daylight.

Emma stayed the cleanest out of everyone.

They don't like each other at all.

Photo shoot - March 7

We ran to town Friday afternoon to do Henry's pictures for his birthday.  Henry was very excited and asked Mammie to be in his pictures too.  They turned out great!   Yoshi also made an appearance.

Henry's Birthday Extravaganza - March 8

Back in January, Henry's best buddy Max had his birthday party at Pump It Up.  Ever since then, Henry had been talking about having his party there.  We caved and decided to book a party there.  That was a tough decision for me, because I LOVE planning birthday parties.  I did still get to make his cake, so that was fun.  He picked out one he liked on Pinterest, and I did my best to recreate it.  Although he told me it was missing Mario and Yoshi, he was pretty happy with the end result.   I had grand plans to decorate matching sugar cookies.  At midnight before the party, I was walking around the kitchen belting out "Let It Go" from Frozen.  We did still have sugar cookies, although they weren't quite as elaborate as I had originally planned.

Of course he wanted to eat the bomb off the top.

He had a great time with all his friends!   The best part, no cleaning up after the party!
