It's so hard to believe Dad's been gone for 5 months today. I still feel like I've had the wind knocked out of me whenever the reality of it all sinks in. 5 months and 1 day ago, I was getting ready to do the triathlon, planning a bike ride and a trip to Adventureland for my dad's birthday. It's hard when so much changes so fast.
Today also would have been my parents' 35th wedding anniversary. I remember their 13th anniversary so well. My dad hid 13th gifts all over the house for her and we spent the morning hunting for them. Gifts were in the dishwasher, the stove, the microwave. The final gift was 13 chocolate truffles from the fancy chocolate store downtown. He was truly an amazing man.
