Sometimes it's still completely surreal to me everything that's changed over the last year and a half. But one day at a time, we're getting through. Thanksgiving was actually pretty darn happy this year.
The boys decided they needed some snow for an appetizer.
I was attempting to figure out the right location for the camera to be for a self-timed group shot. The result was this nerdy pic of me running backwards and jumping into the shot before the camera went off. I've never thought Dani and I actually looked alike, but I'd say we do in this photo.
An amazingly successful family photo!
And it wouldn't be Thanksgiving, without pie. Apparently Linc and Sammy are big pie fans.
After our lovely meal, Brad and Linc went over to Iowa City and Dave went to Ames to get some work done and hang with the dogs.
We got some Christmas decorating started. For some silly reason, we decided to listen to a Christmas music on Pandora. The first song was the song Dani and I both walked down the aisle to with Dad at our weddings, so that resulted in a few tears. Then one of Bev's favorite songs came on.
Adios, Pandora, killer of joy.
After deciding the Christmas tree was depressing, we hopped in the car and went to brave all the crazy Black Friday shoppers at Walmart to score a new Christmas tree. It was a zoo, but we got our tree and checked out all before the insanity started at 6 p.m. with Black Friday deals.
McDonald's had just opened, so the boys and Dani enjoyed cheeseburgers on our way back to the house. Hey, if McDonald's and Walmart doesn't scream Thanksgiving fun, I don't know what does!
After the boys were asleep, we watched Holiday In Handcuffs on Netflix. Ha! Wow is all I can say.
The day was a great reminder of how far we've come over the last 15 months and how blessed we all are to have each other.
