Friday Fun

Sam came home sick from day care this morning, but Dave was kind enough to keep the boys so I could spend some time with a friend.  We went to the Craft Cottage Boutique, which is a nice fundraiser for Lydia House.  They decorate a very nice home that's for sale with crafts.

Sam went to bed early, and I thought I would work on a transcript for a bit.  Henry quickly informed me that Wow Wow Wubbzy was a very fun game and he would like to catch crunchy crabs in bubbles, so my laptop was hijacked and we enjoyed some games instead.

Christmas Crafts

The boys and I decided to make some ornaments this week.  I broke the "no glitter in the house" rule, but it was for a good cause.

Treats from the North Pole

Shelfie was found in the fridge this morning.  He turned our milk green and brought the boys some yummy treats from the North Pole.

Shelfie Helps Decorate the Tree

Henry thought it was pretty hilarious the tree was covered in underpants this morning.

The Return of Shelfie

Arriving back late on Tuesday, our first day of Elf on the Shelf was pretty lame this year. Shelfie was tossed up on the pot rack.

Henry was very excited for Shelfie's return.  And I don't think I will have to play the Santa card much this year.  Henry spent the evening walking around checking off each time Sam was naught on an imaginary checklist.  Once we got to five, Henry said, "Sam, you need to be good.  Otherwise Shelfie will go tell Santa you were naughty and you won't get any toys for Christmas!!"  Of course later they were wrestling and I asked if they were being naughty.  Henry's reply was "Sam sure is!  Go tell Shelfie!"

While Dave put up the tree, the boys and I ate a snack.  Henry was quite a goofball this evening.

We decided to let Dave finish the tree, and the boys and I went to town to pick out one new ornament each for the tree.  We stopped at Hobby Lobby.  Henry informed me he wanted the five-pack of Angry Bird ornaments not for the tree and a separate red bird for the tree.  Of course they didn't have the one he wanted, so we planned a trip to Target after we left Hobby Lobby.

Sam picked out this lovely lobster for his ornament.

I got this robot to remind me of Dad, which promptly made me cry once I got it up on the tree in front of my favorite picture of Henry's hand resting happily on Grandpa's.

Henry got a red Angry Bird at Target.

The boys put their new ornaments up on the tree and we decided to wait to finish decorating until tomorrow.

Phoenix 2013

After Thanksgiving, we caught a flight down to Phoenix to celebrate our 11th anniversary and enjoy some quiet time.  Dave has set some amazing fitness goals for himself in the last three weeks, which has resulted in him losing 24 pounds and also made him determined to stay on track the rest of the year.  I can honestly say I never imagined I would spend my vacation chasing my husband on speed walks through the desert or shopping for yoga pants ... for him!  We did have a nice time away, a few great meals, and a lap or two around the lazy river with a frozen drink in hand.

I learned that first class is AMAZING!

The one and only walk I joined Dave on.  He walked 10 miles the next day.  I was glad I wasn't invited.

We got upgraded to a two-story casita at the hotel, which was great.  There were several private pools around the resort.

We ate fish tacos three times.  Two times we went to Rubios, which is one of my favorites in Phoenix.  We also went to Milagro Grill and had a great lunch one day.  We enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Tomaso's, which was some of the best pasta we have ever had.

We spent all day Monday at the airport.  Longest day ever.  Our first plane had issues, so our three-hour flight ended up being more like five hours on the plane. Thankfully we stopped by The Good Egg before we left, so I didn't starve :)

We arrived back late Monday night and were both eager to get back to Omaha.  Sadly my car wouldn't start and I spent the entire morning waiting for roadside assistance.  On the upside, we got to skip two days of Elf on a Shelf.
