Sesame Street Live - May 3rd

The kids and I packed up and headed to Ankeny to meet up with Mom and Dani and Linc for Sesame Street live.

Sam ate his entire bag of cotton candy within about 5 minutes while I was away getting Henry popcorn.

After Sesame Street, we went back to play at Lincoln's house.

Spencer, the neighbor dog, came to visit.  Henry thought he was really fun, and they enjoyed a good game of tag.

After playing, we went to Hyvee to get some flowers to plant.  I'm pretty sure I need this chicken.

After a lengthy chat about how naps are for babies, I made the mistake of walking away from Sam for about 5 minutes.  Oops.

After naps we went to play at Jordan Creek.

Sammy's birthday celebration

After realizing we didn't have much family in the area anymore to invite to Sam's party this year, we decided to take a new approach of celebrating his birthday.  We packed up our cars and headed to Adventureland!

Sammy had a great day until we decided to conquer the log ride.  Oops.  After the first hill, Sam and I were soaked.  He screamed and cried for the rest of the ride.

He recovered quickly. 

After Adventureland, we went back to Aunt D's house to have cake and play.   Sam had been telling me for months that he wanted a Sheriff Callie cake.  The day before I made his cake, he changed his mind.

I had already ordered the Sheriff Callie cookies, though.

Sammy crashed on the way to tacos.  Too much fun!

After his brief nap, we enjoyed a quick swim before calling it a night.

I was really dreading Sam's birthday just because it wasn't what we have always done.  While it was sad not to have a party in the garden at the old house, it was fun to start a new tradition.   Thanks to everyone who helped make Sammy's birthday extra special.
